Yes, free poetry. If you wish to go directly there, you may download a no-frills .pdf version of One Last Ditch. There should be another link to it nearby if you are not on a mobile device but either way it is free for the clicking. Before you head off though, may I interest you in a poetry video? Head over to One Last Ditch: the movie.s. Kickstarter project page and turn up your speakers or headphones to get all the good bass notes. And you might find something interesting to look at as well.
I think I have announced this just about everywhere but here, so in case it is news to anyone reading, I launched the One Last Ditch: the movie.s. Kickstarter project a little over a week ago and it seems to have picked up momentum just lately. If you haven’t looked at it yet, please do! I am hoping to upgrade some of my video making tools so that I am not always afraid that something is going to break before I finish what I am doing.
I thought I might pre-announce the announcement that I have for later on in the next 24-48 hours and that is it is almost time to launch my Kickstarter project, One Last Ditch: the movie.s., which is aimed at raising money for better equipment for shooting more videos. Watch this space! A real link will appear soon.
This one is out of order insofar as the pages of the book are concerned. I was not planning on doing these two but the soundtrack arose out of nowhere and demanded that I change those plans.
In the next few days I will begin posting videos of myself reading from One Last Ditch. I plan to put up at least one every week until I have read the entire thing, but of course once they are posted you can watch them whenever you want! Poetry readings in your pajamas.
A couple of weeks ago a friend directed me to Cory Doctorow’s website where I discovered that he makes his books available for free download. After reading his rationale for doing so and after thinking and considering and thinking and considering I decided that doing the same thing would be advantageous from the point of view of exposure of which I otherwise would expect to get very little especially given the lack of managerial talent in my current managerial staff which staff is entirely composed of myself and no one else so please if you think I am talking about you please email me and let me know so that if you really do want to manage me we can talk.
But so the upshot of this is that you yourself can now download the electronic version of One Last Ditch at no cost beyond whatever sort of favors you must grant in order to gain internet access. Truly a great deal!
There are some differences between the printed version and the electronic version, so that not only might eyestrain encourage you to pick up a paper copy of One Last Ditch but so also might the prospect of receiving a full-sized, full-color cover image wrapped around an attractively and professionally typeset manuscript. The electronic copy contains all the words that the paper copy does, but it is by design a bit bare in its design values.
In the meantime, download, read, and toast to climbing out of complete obscurity.
Send $20USD per copy (shipping included) to onelastditch@gmail.com via paypal and Erik will scribble his name inside the front cover exclusively for you!
Atelos was founded in 1995 as a project of Hip's Road, devoted to publishing, under the sign of poetry, writing which challenges the conventional definitions of poetry.
All the works published as part of the Atelos project are commissioned specifically for it, and each is involved in some way with crossing traditional genre boundaries, including, for example, those that would separate theory from practice, poetry from prose, essay from drama, the visual image from the verbal, the literary from the non-literary, and so forth.
The Atelos project when complete will consist of 50 volumes.
The project directors and editors are Lyn Hejinian and Travis Ortiz; the director for text production and design is Travis Ortiz; the director for cover production and design is Ree Katrak.
